Was reading something about the life and ministry of people that have changed the world for the better. One that touches my heart so deeply is that of Mother Teresa. The world knew and loved her and her legacy continues to this day. She was born Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu in Albania in 1910. From a teenager, she sensed a calling from God to be a servant, to help and love the poor, the broken and the lost. She joined the Sisters of Loreto and chose the name Teresa and from 1929 to 1948 she taught geography at St. Marys school in Calcutta, India. She was so moved with compassion when she stepped outside on the streets, it literally broke her heart to see the overcrowding, people laying on top of one another, ally ways filled with beggars, lepers, the homeless and dying souls and little children left hungry and alone. She knew she had to do something! In 1946, something she did.....was loving and touching and changing one person at a time. She left everything behind and followed Jesus with her whole heart, she poured her passion into helping the poorest of the poor in the streets of Calcutta. In 1950 she became a citizen of India and founded the Missionaries of Charity where today there are more than 4000 missions in operation around the world in twenty-five countries. In 1979 she was honored with receiving The Nobel Peace Prize. She pointed to Heaven and said, It is not I, but Christ that deserves this recognition, I am only an instrument. Mother Teresas love, compassion and kindness poured out upon all humanity, but especially the poor and suffering is all due to her love for Jesus and her willingness to let Him love others through her. She once said, Im doing my work with Jesus, Im doing it for Jesus, Im doing it to Jesus, so therefore the results are His, not mine. She will remain a true testimony of Gods love in action; an instrument to the sick, the hurting, the wounded, the forgotten, the lost, the poor and the dying. May we all learn from Mother Teresas teaching: ..... as we are to become a coworker of Christ....each of us needs to understand what God expects... To let Christ radiate and live and love through us. Let the poor be drawn to Christ and invite Him to enter their hearts and lives. Let the sick and suffering find Christ to be of comfort and consolation. Let little ones, the forgotten and abused ones begging on the streets cling to us because we are a reminder of Christ, the friend to all. ~~~~~ Mother Teresa Let love reign in your heart today and may you be moved with an overwhelming desire to be kind, to be gentle and peaceable today. May we be instruments to show Gods love to the broken, hurting and wounded in our world. We are the light, the reflection of Christ in the darkness around us. Let your Light shine!
