Washing off your foundation, losing the mascara and posting a - TopicsExpress

Washing off your foundation, losing the mascara and posting a photo of a face that remains healthy and attractive is not brave. Im not anti anything that tries to help cancer sufferers, but these are really good points. Why cant we have a way to raise awareness about cancer that doesnt involve self-indulgent, self-glorifying ways of making people say oh, but you dont need makeup anyway! and further perpetuating the idea that your worth comes from your looks? From someone who hasnt had cancer or chemo and is just a feminist, the whole no-makeup thing feels like a major disservice to women. I hate that society has come to the point where showing your natural face in public is deemed admirable. By glorifying the wearing of no makeup we are validating and enforcing the very standards that oppress us.
