Washington County residents, unite! Vote NO on ballot measure 34-221. Our business, Three Mugs Brewing Company, just paid the Washington County Transportation Development Tax (TDT) that was equal to the entire worth of the assets of our business. According to Washington County, the TDT brought in some $16 million last year to fix roads, and that was with hefty discounts in place on the rates in the ordinance, discounts that the county plans to end next year. I know other small businesses who were hurt and some that couldnt even open because of the TDT. The undiscounted going rate for, say, a cafe, is $25,000 per 1000 square feet. Read the report on the TDT for yourself, then decide if Washington County needs another $12 million from vehicle registration fees that ballot measure 34-221 proposes to generate.
