Im very familiar with these classic poses and transitions though I never had the opportunity to study directly with Iyengar. His disciplined focus made it possible to have his teachings transmitted intact, by those willing to carry them throughout the world. Also, components of his signature yoga has been practiced by people who havent heard his name. Its nice to think the media is currently educating them. I was introduced to yoga in 1976 and loved seeing hatha yoga practiced without sticky mats in this clip. In general, I prefer practicing without a sticky mat still today, especially when on an expanse of green grass.
