Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong. - TopicsExpress

Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong. -1 Corinthians 16:13 In this verse Paul is urging the Corinthians to take a strong position. One that leans in. One that is prepared. Being a follower of Jesus is no “Sunday picnic”. It means that you will constantly face opposition and opportunity to give up. It means you’ll find yourself faced with the opportunity to compromise and water down what you believe to be right. Those things will be an option but the alternative is to “Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong”. While the opportunity to give up seems good at the time it never brings reward. It’s the latter that does. It’s much like saving up for something you really want. It’s painful to put the money away at the time but there is such a sense of satisfaction when you can finally pay for it in full. The opposite is also true. You can quit now which is like “take home now, pay later” purchase. You get the satisfaction of having what you want now, but pay the price later. Culturally, it’s becoming more and more acceptable to live this way, watering down our convictions and sense of stick-ability. Choose to be someone who holds fast to what God says is true, honourable, honest and right. Stick to your convictions. Honour your commitments. The end result is a life that, when looked back upon, brings satisfaction and a sense of achievement. You’ll be grateful and much richer for it and glorify God in it. #bibleqoutes #DailyHolyEnlightment
