Watched a documentary about a guy who won an astonishing amount of money on a mid-1980s game show by learning the patterns on the quasi-random board (5 sequences of 18 steps each), and gaming his responses accordingly. The really infuriating part was when the network had a panic-button meeting to try to find a way to *not pay him*. The guy seemed like an undiagnosed Aspie and someone who would have done extraordinarily well if someone had, say, turned him on to cryptography or higher mathematics at an early age -- but no one did, so he hacked a game show and spent the rest of his life looking for the next get-rich-quick scheme. Wasted talent...
