Watched the 60 Minutes special on Benghazi tonight. I was hopeful that this was CBS attempt to try out the idea of neutral journalism... But, Im very disappointed. To begin, there was no mention nor explanation of the complex backstory regarding why any of this happened in the first place - which would have been a terrible inconvenience for the Administration. The root of this event is an unspeakable embarrassment and even illegal web of treason and violence on the part of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, the CIA and others. They made a big deal of the fact that security was minimal and that attacks were imminent - but made no attempt to place culpability directly. Not in any substantial way. THAT would have been journalism. Further, not a word was spoken about the ridiculous LIE put forth by the highest leaders in this country - as they attempted to explain away this attack due to some silly, low-quality 13 min YouTube video!! They went on show after show, bold-faced lying to the American People - and even had the producer of said video arrested and incarcerated on unrelated charges. Wheres the blowback for that complete mockery of our intelligence? And even more important issue is the topic of why no help was sent for hours and hours - while Obama and team watched - in real time - while our representatives died horrible, fiery and bloody deaths. How is it that the most powerful military on the planet could provide no back up to its OWN embassy for 7 hours? Yes, the segment made mention of this - but, once again made no effort to uncover why or place any responsibility. That would have been journalism. A final thought is that CBS itself is partially to blame for the blacking out of coverage of this story during the crucial stages of the presidential elections. They, and all the other mainstream media outlets, covered for Obama and those responsible for many weeks when this information could have made a real difference. That would have been journalism. So, why broadcast this now?? My guess is that they presented Benghazi Lite to get as many eyes watching as possible so they could lead into the next news segment - the insanely BS piece regarding Edward Snowden. What a crock of lies that was. The former head if the CIA claiming that this was the most damaging treason ever to befall the USA?? Right. He mentions that it could compromise the USA for future 9/11-type attacks?? He knows - more than anyone - that 9/11 was NOT the work of terrorists. This was propaganda in its purest form - prime time, and set up perfectly by the lame, shallow and misleading story about Benghazi. Seriously, friends. Its time to burn our TVs and never be roped into watching another media news story again. Ever. Keep reading and pursuing the truth. Its so very important.
