Watching the Panorama programme Dont Cap My Benefits left me with - TopicsExpress

Watching the Panorama programme Dont Cap My Benefits left me with a series of mixed emotions. The cap will unfortunately, but inevitably lead to some very difficult cases and it is impossible for ones heart to not go out to the children who will be adversely affected by these changes. It was also encouraging to see people who were keen to find work and who did not want to live a life on benefits. They should be supported at every step of the way. However, it is difficult to comprehend how people end up having up to seven children. These people are either stupid, reckless, feckless, or influenced by their own warped culture. Either way, the taxpayer cannot continue to support this state of affairs. Over time, the cap will force such people to change their behaviour. For that reason alone, the Government should be applauded for taking this difficult but vital decision to change the welfare system.
