Water supply in affected area restored by 96pc: KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 2 — Water supply which was disrupted in several areas due to the oil spillage in Sungai Selangor three days ago has been restored by up to 96 per cent as of 4pm today. Syarikat Air Selangor (Syabas) assistant general manager (Corporate Communication and Public Affairs Department) Priscilla Alfred said consumers in only four areas, namely in Petaling, Kuala Lumpur, Klang/Shah Alam and Gombak, were still having water supply disruption or low water pressure. "Water supply has been fully restored in Hulu Selangor, Kuala Langat and Kuala Selangor. "This is due to continuous effort by Syabas in monitoring the water supply restoration programme and cooperation extended by the operator of the water treatment plants," she said in a statement here today. Priscilla said that with the positive development, the number of consumers affected by water disruption had dropped to 63,390 from 880,00 on August 31 and 194,949 yesterday. To help consumers who were facing difficulties, she said Syabas continued to mobilise all resources to send water through tankers and static tanks. She said that to date, 413 deliveries had been made using tankers, while 69 static tanks had been placed at strategic locations in areas still affected by the water disruption. She said of the total tankers that were mobilised, 16 were provided by Syarikat Air Johor, the Perak Water Board and Syarikat Air Negeri Sembilan. — Bernama dlvr.it/3vCj47
