Way back there, around 72 by pure coincidence I tuned into my local FM station WABB in Mobile, AL because it was Friday, , the night that they would play entire newly released albums all the way through. The female DJ said Now this one is by a guy named Dan Fogelberg, , I remember thinking What a strange name (and my name is Wigley~Ha!). Then the opening strings of To The Morning began, , and then ThaT voice, , followed by the sound of his acoustic guitar and the weight of the lyrics within Stars. Well the spell was cast, , , I learned to play guitar to his records, I bought every one up until about High Country Snows. I was into many artists, but kept up my love for Dan. The years went by and I became curious to see how Dans career was going, , I searched the internet and found his site, , then was so saddened to read about him having prostate cancer. I wrote on the notebook to him then and have always hoped he read that, , , a while later while working in my hospital a co-worker with a sad look in her eye told me Dan had passed, , boy did that hit me hard, , , John Lennons passing really was terrible, but the news of Dan brought many more tears, , I must have played all I had of him for about 2 weeks straight. God creates us and then places us down here on this spinning planet to see how we do for so short a time, , lets take care of each other, , build doors, , not walls, , take in the blue skies and mountain ranges and fresh air, use our talents to create, , all of the answers we seek can be found, the dreams that we dream are all on the way, , , Yes lets try to make LOVE stay. Im wishing Jean and Dans family a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday Season.
