We Thank You, Lord! (Psalm 105:1-6) Oh give thanks to the Lord! - TopicsExpress

We Thank You, Lord! (Psalm 105:1-6) Oh give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His name. Make known His deeds among the peoples! Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him. Talk of all His wondrous works! Glory in His holy name. Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the Lord. Seek the Lord and His strength. Seek His face evermore. Remember His marvelous works which He has done, His wonders and the judgments of His mouth, oh seed of Abraham His servant, You children of Jacob, His chosen ones.” (NKJV) This psalm calls us to give thanks to God and call upon His name. It exhorts us to pray and praise with grateful hearts. These verses arise from a heart that is bursting with love and gratitude to God, a heart that is overcome by His goodness! In Psalm 100:4 we are clearly told how we should enter the presence of the Lord – with thanksgiving and with praise. (“Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him and bless His name”.) This is a recipe for breakthrough! There have been many times in my life when I began to give thanks to God in the midst of some difficult situation, and saw Him step in and turn things around. Giving thanks to God is not something we naturally feel like doing when things are not progressing the way we desire. Although you may be seeking the Lord in prayer, perhaps it has not been easy to see things you could be thankful for right now. Thanksgiving may be far from your mind, as you pour out your heart’s desires to the Lord. Maybe you have been waiting in prayer for a breakthrough, but I challenge you to take the words of Psalm 105 seriously and see great changes in your life! The six verses of this psalm are keys to overcoming. Give thanks to the Lord and call upon His name. Take your eyes off your problems and fix your eyes on Jesus. Focus on His love and His power. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you to feel His goodness, and to remember His kindness and mercy, and how He saved you. You cannot help but give Him thanks when you pause to think about what an amazing and wonderful Lord He is and how very much He loves you! He gave His life for you. He is the awesome and omnipotent Lord of the universe. Make your praise loud and loving. Not only will this please the heart of the Father, but it will repel any darkness discouraging you, and stir your faith. Remember and speak of the good things God has done for you and those around you. As you remember the many times Jesus has come to your rescue, healed you and provided for you in the past, it strengthens your faith and enables you to believe for what you are seeking Him for. Share your testimonies with others. Revelations 19:10 tells us that “the testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of Prophecy”. Every time we share what Jesus has done or is doing in our lives, it opens up a possibility for someone else. It is as good as prophesying the same miracle for the hearer! Testimonies are powerful because they build faith and prepare the way for more of God’s goodness to be seen on the earth. You can even take the testimony of another person and declare the same thing for yourself. You will be prophesying the truth of God’s will, because His healing, deliverance, freedom and blessing are what He wants for you. Sing songs of praise to the Lord . There is no other person worthy of our worship and adoration. He loves us with an everlasting love. He is faithful, tender, kind and true. There is no one else like Him. God comes to inhabit the praises of His people (Psalm 22) and His presence comes when His name is sincerely lifted up. Take a few minutes during your day to turn your heart to Jesus and just sing Him a little song of praise from your heart. It is a way to practice His presence with you always and will keep you on top of whatever comes against you. Rejoice in the Lord and glory in His holy name . Whenever I begin to praise the Lord aloud, my heart is filled with great joy. I truly begin to rejoice that I am His and He is mine! I revel in the fact that I belong to the King of kings, and that I am a joint heir with Jesus Christ because I remember what my life was like when I did not have Him. I am so thrilled to know that God has good plans for me, plans to prosper me! He has the same plans for you. You are constantly on His heart, and He is always looking to bless you and take you to higher ground because you are His much loved, blood bought child. Friend, nothing else matters more than seeking the Lord and walking in His strength. Philippians 4:13 tells us that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. There is nothing impossible for us when we partner with Him! His grace is more than sufficient! You are the ‘seed of Abraham’ – God’s child of faith. You are a child of Jacob, called and chosen to walk in the Father’s blessing. He has for you what He had for Abraham and Jacob – not only the prosperity of body, spirit and soul, and His provision and protection in every area of your life, but also faith to walk into all the promises He has given you in His Word. When you thank God for what He has already done, you position yourself for much more. We would all be happy to do more for someone who loves and appreciates what we have done! I pray that you will experience great breakthrough in every aspect of your life, as you make thanksgiving and praise a part of your heart. It does not take much time and you can start right now, by thanking God for something (s) He has done for you! “Precious Holy Spirit, fill this dear brother and sister with new joy and new strength, and let them see the amazing victories, and answers to prayer which Abba has for them, with joy unspeakable and filled with glory, in Jesus’ name, amen.” Oh give thanks to the Lord and call upon His name. He is so worthy or our adoration and our praise! Minoli Haththotuwa, 12 August 2014 (From Rising on wings)
