We all want the hand of God in our life. It is God’s hand that brings true success and blessings in our personal life, our family, our business, and our ministry. This does not mean that you will not have problems. But in the midst of your problem, God will also let you see His hand there to bless you. Ezra is an example of one who experienced the blessings of God’s hand in his life. God gave him special favor, even from a pagan king, who granted him permission to return to Jerusalem with tons of gold and silver to restore the temple. The key to God’s hand being with Ezra was that he set his heart to study, practice, and teach the Word of God. You too can experience God’s hand in your life as you follow Ezra’s example (Ezra 7:9-10). 1. Study the Word of God Like Ezra, we ought to set our hearts to study God’s word. Your heart is like a compass that directs the course of your life. What directs your heart determines your destination. This is foundational and that is why Jesus commanded us to love God with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength. If you love the Lord, you will delight in reading the bible every day in order to know Him and how to please Him. 2. Practice the Word of God We are to not only study God’s word but also practice it as a way of life. It is often easier to study the Bible than to practice it. In the midst of a problem, your response will reveal what is in your heart, what you love the most. The Lord tells us to thank Him in everything. That is difficult when we are disappointed or hurt. But if we love Him, we will obey Him. Practicing the word of God is moment-by-moment obedience. When we obey God’s word, we experience joy and God’s hand of blessing in our lives. 3. Teach the Word of God After studying and practicing God’s word, we are to teach God’s word as Ezra did. As you practice what you study, your life is transformed and then you have credibility to teach others. William Arthur Ward said,“The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.” The biblical teacher inspires people to follow or exceed his teaching and thus multiplies himself. Would you like God’s hand upon your life? Learn from Ezra’s example. Set your heart to study God’s word, to practice and obey God’s word faithfully, and to teach the word of God to the people you love and in your sphere of influence.
