Cambridge-Based Masacote Entertainment, Inc. wins the Massachusetts SBA 2014 Minority-Owned Small Business of the Year Award... BOSTON - Masacote Entertainment, Inc., owned by Ana and Joel Massicot, has been named the 2014 Massachusetts SBA Minority-Owned Small Business of the Year, according to an announcement made today by Massachusetts SBA District Director Robert Nelson. The selection for this award is based on the following criteria: staying power, growth in number of employees, increase in sales and/or unit volume, innovation of product or service, and response to adversity and community contributions. Masacote Entertainment was nominated for this award by Gina Marciano of the Center for Women and Enterprise. Masacote Entertainment is an internationally renowned Latin music and dance company. Its specialty is salsa, with a strong emphasis on merging various disciplines of dance and music. Masacote Entertainment was founded 11 years ago, and has grown significantly. The company has expanded into New Hampshire, and its dancers have taught classes in 30 countries across the globe. While Ana and Joel Massicot remain the company’s sole full-time employees, Masacote Entertainment hires approximately 30 contractors to assist with show production, music, and dance each year. “We are thrilled to present this award to Ana and Joel for their success with Masacote Entertainment, Inc. and their invaluable contributions to our local economy,” said Director Nelson. “If one word characterizes this business and its owners, it is energy.
