We are heartbroken over the loss of two mothers who gave birth at South Shore Hospital within the past two months. Our deep sympathies and all the support we can offer are being given to the two families. Our teams responded to both cases swiftly and aggressively, doing everything possible. At this time, it appears that, in both cases, the situations were unanticipated and could not have been prevented. We are encouraging all of our expectant parents who may have questions to speak with their OB doctors, nurse midwives and nurse practitioners.
