We are home. They did every heart and lung function test they could on Dad at St Luke’s the last two days. Essentially Dad’s heart is in good shape. They put him on a cholesterol pill even though his numbers were just slightly high. He is on a second blood pressure medicine to ensure the heart can work to capacity. It was decided he has early onset COPD so he has two inhalers- one daily and one if needed. He will follow up with the lung doctor in a couple weeks to see if the inhalers are helping. I had “words” with the cardiologist because we wanted Dad to be assessed by the pulmonary specialist today NOT in a couple weeks. It was amazing the reasons why having the pulmonary specialist see Dad today was too hard. The cardiologist finally relented and requested a consult. The pulmonary specialist was great and it took him maybe 15 minutes to come up with a plan. We hoping to see improvement soon. It is wonderful to know overall dad is doing well for 83 years old!
