We are like cells and bacteria handling the systems in a human body, just on a larger scale. We influence the way the planet operates with its automated, controlled and piloted behaviour, responses and consequences. We therefore are completely dependent on it to live and grow. Likewise it depends on us to improve its quality and processes. Clouds for example relieve us from certain energy forms and thus processes it into another form, a form that is the consequence of the energy it relieves us from. But only under the particular circumstances it lives in, the better the circumstances the better the result of its process.
