We are studying Colossians 2:14-17. Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to His cross; and having spoiled principalities and powers, He made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it. Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ. https://youtube/watch?v=trPBjnMQZ8w Is it possible to misunderstand PAULS WRITINGS in the last days? Even as our beloved brother Paul... hath written unto you... in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other Scriptures, unto their own destruction. 2 Peter 3:15-16. It uses the term handwriting, yet the Sabbath commandment was written with Gods finger. #2. It uses the word ordinances and the Sabbath is not an ordinance. #3. It uses the term blotting out whereas the Sabbath commandment was engraved on stone (therefore impossible to blot out). #4. If this is the correct interpretation of Pauls writings, then it undermines what he said elsewhere... #5. It uses the term against us. Not only is the Sabbath not against anyone --the Sabbath was made for man-- but when we compare this passage with Deuteronomy 31:26, we see that the BOOK of the law [instructions for how to keep the FEASTDAYS] shall be a witness against thee. #6. It says that it was nailed to the cross. This would contradict Matthew 24:20 if it were speaking of the Sabbath. It would also contradict Hebrews 4:9 which uses the Greek word Sabbatismos (a keeping Sabbath). #7. It says having spoiled principalities and powers, but yet if this is then talking about the Law of God (or even only one part of it) then it undermines Gods entire system of government in Heaven. #8. It says, Let no man therefore judge you whereas James 2:10-12 says that the Law of God (including the commandment to keep the Sabbath holy) will be the standard of character in the Judgement. #9. It mentions meats, drinks, holy days and new moons, which have nothing to do with the Sabbath! #10. New moons are associated with annual featsdays (Psalm 81:3). #11. Meat offerings are associated with annual feastdays and animal sacrifices. #12. Drink offerings are associated with feastday [annual] sabbaths. #13. It says that these things are shadows of Christ. But as already discussed, the Sabbath cannot be a shadow of Christ, (as all shadows of Christ point to the removal of sin), because the Sabbath was made before sin, in a perfect world. There are moral laws, civil laws, health laws and ceremonial laws in what we commonly refer to as the law. The civil law (which only governed the Jewish nation) was only for the Jews. Health laws are for everyone with a human body; (if you do not have a human body, you do not need to follow these). Ceremonial laws are for pre-cross believers. The Old Testament ordinances have been replaced in the New Testament with the Lords Supper; and in like manner circumcision has been replaced with baptism. Moral laws such as Thou shalt not steal are for EVERYONE! The worlds Redeemer was treated as we deserve to be treated, in order that we might be treated as He deserved to be treated. He came to our world and took our sins upon His own divine soul, that we might receive His imputed righteousness. He was condemned for our sins, in which He had no share, that we might be justified by His righteousness, in which we had no share. The worlds Redeemer gave Himself for us. Who was He? --The Majesty of Heaven, pouring out His blood upon the altar of justice for the sins of guilty man. We should know our relationship to Christ and His relationship to us. We are to trust God fully, and ask Him to supply the least as well as the greatest want. The Lord encourages our confidence; and the great proof of our union with Christ, and the best manifestation of our love to Him, is in yielding obedience to His claims. If you have love to Jesus Christ, which is an expression of the life of Christ in the soul, then you will do what He commands you. This is practical religion. Redeemed by the ransom money paid for your souls, you will go forth and show how much you love Jesus by obedience to His commandments. You are to bring forth fruit by doing His commandments, because you are branches of the living Vine. It is His prayer that His joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. --The Review and Herald, March 21, 1893 paragraph 6 God’s Law vs. Moses’ Law God’s Law Contained in Stone Moses’ Law Contained in Ordinances God’s Law Called “the Law of the Lord.” (Isaiah 5:24) Moses’ Law Called “the Law of Moses.” (Luke 2:22) God’s Law will stand forever. (1 Chronicles 16:15-17; Psalm 12:6-7; 19:9; 89:34; 105:8, 10; 111:7-8, 9; 119:44, 89, 111, 126, 152; Proverbs 28:4, 9; Ecclesiastes 3:14; 8:2; 12:13; Isaiah 55:3; 61:8; Jeremiah 32:40; Ezekiel 16:60, 62; 37:26; Matthew 5:17-19; Luke 16:17; Romans 2:13, 23; 3:31; Hebrews 13:20; 1 John 2:3.) God spoke the Law out of His mouth; What God says does not change; We are live by every word of God. (Exodus 20:1; Deuteronomy 8:3; Matthew 4:4; Luke 4:4; Psalm 89:34.) The law of animal sacrifices - known as the Mosaic Law - was only given to point to Christ as the great Saviour of the world. For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul. Leviticus 17:11. Christs blood provides a way for atonement to be made for our souls. It is during this time (the investigative judgement) that this process is currently being finished - whilst Jesus is in the Most Holy lace of the Heavenly Sanctuary performing the reality of the Old Testament shadowy feastday - the Great Day of Atonement. Jesus is cleansing the Heavenly Sanctuary of sin. Now is the time to get pure (1 John 3:3) and to find our righteousness in Christ! The Mosaic Law of animal sacrifices - annual sabbaths (not the weekly Seventh-day Sabbath) ended at the cross. (Acts 15:24; 21:21; Galatians 4:9-11; Ephesians 2:13-15; Colossians 2:14-17; Hebrews 7:12, 16, 18, 19.) God’s Law is eternal by nature. Animal sacrifices are only valid (1) after sin and (2) before the cross. God’s Law was written on two tables of stone. (Exodus 24:12; 31:18; 32:16; 34:1, 4; Deuteronomy 4:13; 5:22; 9:9-11; 10:2-4.) The Mosaic Law was written in a book. (Exodus 24:4-7; Deuteronomy 31:9, 24, 26; Joshua 8:31, 32, 34; 2 Chronicles 35:12; Nehemiah 8:1; 13:1.) God’s Law, written by God on tables of stone, was placed inside the Ark of the Covenant. (Exodus 40:20; Deuteronomy 10:2-5; 1 Kings 8:9; 2 Chronicles 5:10.) Moses’ Law, written by Moses on paper, was placed besides the Ark of the Covenant. (Deuteronomy 31:24-26.) It is the law contained in ordinances (Ephesians 2:15) that was blotted out (Colossians 2:14) from that ink-imprinted paper. The writing on the two tables of stone has not changed since it was written - even through it is like 3000 years old! Ron Wyatt found these tables of stone inside the Ark of the Covenant when he broke through and found it on January 6th, 1982 at approximately 2 o’clock in the afternoon. The Hebrew writing was in tact and legible! Bill Fry: Cause when you told me this before, you know, you told me you took the tables of stone out, and then the angel told you something about the tables of stone? Ron Wyatt: Yeah, he told me that it had to do with when these were to be shown to the world. Bill Fry: Right. Ron Wyatt: Two things were stated; one that if I was faithful I would have the privilege of sharing this, and the second was that when the mark of the beast law was in force, that shortly after that, was when this would take place. Bill Fry: Okay. Ron Wyatt: And there is a little bit of conundrum: it wasn’t stated as the mark of the beast law, it was stated, “when the Sunday law,” but I tell people, and I think it’s wiser to tell people that, since it’s not lying or deceiving, is that when the mark of the beast law is in force. Bill Fry: Right. But the angel said “Sunday law”. Ron Wyatt: That’s right. Read more: covenantkeepers.co.uk/last_interview.html God’s Law is for us. It is called the Law of liberty. Keeping it frees us from sin. (Psalm 119:9, 45; John 8:31-36; Romans 13:8-10; James 1:25; 2:12.) 1 John 5:3 says it is “not grievous”. The Old Testament feastdays are “against us” and “contrary to us.” (Colossians 2:14.) Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee. Deuteronomy 31:26. Travelling to Jerusalem three times per year; killing your own animal and shedding its blood upon the altar to symbolise the making of atonement for your sin - it is this which is against you. God’s Law was written with the finger of God (Exodus 24:12; 31:18; 32:16; 34:1.) Do you know that the Ten Commandments were the only thing in the whole Bible that God wrote with His own finger? For everything else, God gave it to a prophet and the prophet wrote it down. Moses’ Law was written by a human being. (Exodus 24:4; Deuteronomy 31:9, 24; 2 Chronicles 33:8; 35:12; Nehemiah 9:14.) God’s Law is called “the Royal Law.” (James 2:8.) Mosaic Law is called “the law contained in ordinances.” (Ephesians 2:15.) God’s Law points out sin. (Romans 3:20; 4:15; 7:7; 1 John 3:4.) Moses’ Law was added because of sin. (Leviticus 4:27-31; Galatians 3:19.) God’s Law is a transcript of His Character. It has been there from the beginning. The Messiah, Jesus Christ our Saviour, “magnified the Law, and made it honourable.” (Isaiah 42:21). Christ made the Law clearer! The feastdays were shadows of Christ. However, there is nothing shadowy in the Ten Commandments. Even the Sabbath was made before sin. Two institutions were created in Eden - marriage and the Sabbath. Thus they have the same properties. If marriage is valid in the New Covenant, the Sabbath must be also. To declare that God’s Law – or any precept of God’s Law – could change or be abrogated is to imply that God Himself could change or be abrogated. Yet we know this is clearly not true for God never changes. There is no variableness in Him. He is eternal. His ways are everlasting. (Malachi 3:6; Hebrews 13:8; James 1:17; Deuteronomy 33:27; Habakkuk 3:6. See also Psalm 102:12, 27.) God’s Law is spiritual. (Romans 7:14.) Mosaic Law is carnal. (Hebrews 7:16.) God’s Law is perfect. (Psalm 19:7; 119:96; James 1:25.) Mosaic Law “made nothing perfect.” (Hebrews 7:19.) When we break God’s Law, the punishment is death. (Genesis 2:15-17; Deuteronomy 21:22; 24:16; 30:19; Proverbs 20:30; Ezekiel 18:4, 20; Romans 6:23.) If you broke a ceremonial law, the consequences were not as severe as death. God’s Law judges all people. (Romans 2:12, 13, 25; James 2:10-12.) Carnal ordinances judge no one. (Colossians 2:16.) To verify that there are two Laws: 2 Kings 21:8 Nehemiah 9:13-14 Daniel 9:11 Notice the word “and” in those passages, denoting both Laws. Understand also the following usage of personal pronouns: God’s Sabbath is rendered as “MY SABBATH” (Exodus 31:13; Ezekiel 20:12-13, 16, 20; 22:8, 26), whereas the feastday sabbaths, belonging only to the Jewish nation, are denoted as “her sabbaths” (Lamentations 1:7; Hosea 2:11).
