We are to walk in unity not disunity. God never meant for a church not to work together. Just like God never intended for you to go without a arm or a leg. How much more easier is it when all your body parts are whole and working together. We were never made to work without both hands or both feet. Yet we expect the church to work with only half its members working together. Its a shame there cannot be unity in the very house that is suppose to show love. Yet we rip each other apart. We fight the pastor the very man of God and drive him to either quit or commit suicide. In Ephesians 4 verses 1-7 and 11-16. We see a beautiful story of how Paul was explaining to them about the need for unity. Listen to his words. I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call— one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. Notice here the apostle is talking about unity working together. Working together as one body. He beseeched them to walk worthy of the calling which they were called. With all loneliness and gentleness. Not gossiping or back bitting or sowing discord. With long suffering bearing with one another in love. Not hatred. Not one person wanting to hurt another. Not threatening harm to each other. Not having secret meetings were you plan to destroy the church. Endeavoring to keep the unity of the spirit in the bond of peace. Verse 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. We are to function together not apart. Then in verse 13-14 show us how we should function in Christ. until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Them he goes on to talk about speaking truth in love in verse 15 may grow up in all things into him who is the head Christ. Then driving the whole point home in verse 16. from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love. Notice he said whom the whole body. Not parts but the whole. Joined knit together by what every joint supplies according to the effective work by which every part does it share. Causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love. God help us to walk in unity in the church.
