We as a nation over the past forty years or so have become accustomed to war on television and in the news. Reports coming from far corners of the world such as Vietnam, Bosnia, Sierra Leon, Iraq, and Afghanistan. These reports tell of the death and destruction of these awful conflicts and while I am disheartened at the sights and sounds I have remained unmoved by them. Until last evening when I heard of the death of a young marine who is the son of a friend of mine. I can only now see what a personal cost to so many mothers and fathers these conflicts inflict. This young man like so many before him has given his life for the cause his country was engaged in. I ask myself this morning will I be worthy of such a sacrifice. Can I be the American that this young man and his family has given their last measure for. I pray to my Heavenly Father that I can be. I can only say Thank You To this young man and his family and God Bless.
