We booked (through Expedia) 3 resort hotels near the national parks in Utah for our mini vacations starting this Friday. All the parks are closed due to the government shutdown, which turns out to be a really BIG surprise to Expedia. I have been on the phone with them attempting to cancel the reservation I think for over one hour. So far, one of the hotels refused to cancel the reservation and issue the refund to Expedia even though they admitted to having cancelled and refunded individual bookings made outside of the intermediary booking agent, such as Expedia. What can we do?
