We had am awesome meeting last night of the Cape Fear Captains Assn.. Fishermen, Women, Captains and Guides in attendance, along with the Commissioners and WECT News. Hope everyone saw the exposure we got from the news team. Discussions were about the Log Book, regulations and the accuracy of them to be voted on in Feb..Most of the Guides agreed that we are willing to work with the commissioners to have regulations and a log book that we all can agree on. I think we got our point across that if a log book is to be implemented, to have accurate accounts, some changes need to occur, otherwise the system will fail before it gets started. The way it is now, its just too much data required for guides to accomplish accurately and recreational fishermen will have to be accounted for also. That means all who possess a saltwater license. They could not give a reason why none of us had been notified except bad data. Imagine that !! Well, hopefully we made an impression and they are talking about us today. Our goal is to either have NO log book or an ACCURATE one we can all agree on.
