We had lots of questions on our previous post on the new BFGoodrich KO2 with regard to performance, vehicle and lift needed, and balancing weights. Short synopsis here: They are a 285/75R/16, mounted on a 2002 Tacoma with an ICON suspension (about 2.75-inch lift) and I’ve been quite impressed with them so far. I ran them through about 300 miles of Northern Baja two-tracks (rocks, sand, mud, gravely two-tracks) in a Wide Open Baja car in September—lateral grip at high speed, directness, and traction was good. Regarding our recent snow run (did another yesterday to McKinstry Lake near the Rubicon), they provide positive grip and tracking on icy/snowy roads. In the deeper powder (firm base, about 9-12 inches top depth) I had them down to 10psi and then 5psi. I have no complaints thus far; they squatted down with a nice inverted-mushroom footprint and the tread pattern and shoulder block offered a sufficient “paddle wheel” effect: pulled out a stuck ¾-ton truck and toy hauler in powder/packed powder (see image). With the exception of the previous ATs (Falken WildPeaks) I’ve always run a more aggressive mud terrain, and I have fairly high expectations with regard to low-psi soft-terrain traction. Balancing weight: I recorded this and will dig it out and get back with you, but fresh out of the box they are bowling ball smooth on the tarmac.
