We have a few details to share. As is usually the case with the NICU things change fast and nothing is certain. Her lung xrays look a little better which is promising. They were able to turn down her vent settings. What scared us this morning was that little Arya has been having seizures. They arent sure if they are from infection or from her brain bleed. They are doing an EEG to see what kind/where they originate and how often she is having them so they can better know how to treat them From what April can see at the bedside they are only on one sided and dont seem like much more than focal motor which is much better than a full body one (generalized, grand-mal seizure). They also dont last long which is good. April had a meeting with the neurologist to review Aryas brain scans. From what I can tell it sounds like much better news than we originally got this morning. The neurologist said the left side of her brain doesnt look bad at all (Thank you Jesus!!) She only has a little blood on that side. The right side has enough blood to classify it as a grade 4 and she has some cysts which actually indicate that the bleed was occuring when April was pregnant, not after delivery. On the right side it looks like a little blood in the tissue but not major damage as we previously feared. That side stays a grade 4. The left side may get downgraded (praying hard for that!). She gave us even more hope when saying that many times in babies this early that parts of the non damaged brain will make up for the damaged parts even on the other side. They are resilient little humans :-) So now we watch, wait and pray some more. They will redo the ultrasound Monday and hopehopefully the bleeding will show more resolution by then and no more damage. They will not give her a prognosis regarding her neurologic status as every baby is different but so far this is very encouraging news. We dont care if she doesnt walk til age 3 or cant throw with one arm.....we just want her here for our family to love ♡
