We have a tendency to infantalize the past, as though historic humans were somehow more ignorant and less intelligent than we are. This is strange when you consider that Johannes Kepler discovered that planets have an elliptical orbit around the sun by watching Mars in the sky through a telescope that wed likely give to a child today as a toy. Isaac Newton observed three scientific principles of motion that still remain true today and invented (possibly, theres debate) calculus before the age of 26. Im 26 and I cry at dirty dishes.
