We have formed the Black Business of Second Life Executive Committee. The Executive Committee will help with the expansion of BBOSL by creating new levels of support for members and lots of new programs and opportunities for new and old members to grow. It has been a long journey since the formation of the BBOSL in 2008 to where are today. We owe all of that success to you, our members, our family, who has each worked hard in your field and producing the best of what you are to share within the Second Life Urban Community by joining BBOSL and networking. As we move to 2014, we are pushing very close to 1000 members! From its inception, BBOSL has committed itself to empowering our community through networking and education. By providing a valuable resource network, we as individuals can become successful in our business ventures as a community. Up until now BBOSL has been overseen by the founders who continuously strive to remain successful in the Second Life world. Just like any successful business, there has to be a realization that BBOSLs growth is more than two people can handle alone. We need to grow in order to continue being successful. So in keeping with that concept, we are proud to announce growth within the BBOSL. As we move into this year and beyond, the BBOSL has formed a permanent committee of 4 independent business owners who are considered leaders in their own right, to be part of a new venture taken on by BBOSL. We have formed the Black Business of Second Life Executive Committee. This position has been formed to help expand BBOSL into a new era of networking and educational opportunities that will hopefully benefit all of our member to reach out to each other and work together in a more holistic way. My name is SeasonedRed Halfpint, owner of Weddings For All By: Seasoned established five years, and still strong coming into the sixth year of existence within this Virtual World. Change, brings progression, and that births new levels of business opportunities, and creative insight. Over the course of my Second Life I have seen new business start quickly, and stop even quicker. This understanding has equipped me to reach out, and assist businesses with guidance, and techniques to embrace the downtime, and still maintain. Success is not given, it’s Earned, and the labor starts with the resident that shows the initiative and willing to invest the time to “Make the Best Better” Seasonedred Halfpint.holds the titles to the Second Life Titles of Soul Train Female Spoken Word Award for both the years 2012 as well as 2013 and was given the title Icon for the 2013 Black Girls Rock Award. !!!!!!!DEJAA SCARBOROUGH!!!!!!! Since joining Second Life in December 2007, Dejaa Scarborough has been searching for her piece of the virtual pie, and a way to bring her RL talents and skills to our second world. From club ownership to event planning, from her work with some of the hottest DJs on SL to the growing clothing store business, DeJaa has done it all. DeJaas RL background in graphic arts, web designing, event planning and customer service have served her well in Second Life. Shes a firm believer in serving the customer, and expecting excellence from herself and others, which is a trait her clients and those that know her admire. Her networking and planning skills helped her gain the experience required to operate a successful business in Second Life. In April 2008, DeJaa and her sister opened the Caramel Lounge and Dance Club. Along with the club, the sim included stores, a roller skating rink, a wellness center, and a host of other activities for its VIPs to enjoy. Although currently closed...many people have fond memories of their time spent at this establishment. Today, DeJaa has several projects in the works. While she continues to grow her catering/event planning business, Cater 2 U Events, Inc. (which is the first catering business on Second Life), DeJaa has recently launched a new clothing store for women called [ DeJaaVu ]. In addition, she has followed her husbands, Lucas Scarborough, footsteps by becoming a deejay on Second Life and is affectionately known as DJ DeJAAvu. Finally, DeJaa helps to manage several of her husbands businesses including his store, The Man Cave, LAS Weddings and DJ Ice Entertainment. On a personal note, DeJaa is blessed with a wonderful and supportive husband and family who help keep her grounded. !!!!!!!TANK THIBEDEAU!!!!!!! Tank has been a member of the Second Life Community since 2007. He is a successful business owner and has explored every aspect of Second Life from Mens health peer support, artist and designer of clothing and DJing to just flying around exploring all that is in Second Life. He has hosted a fashion show The Fashion Fix. Tank as also organized World Aids Day celebrations and involved with many nonprofits in Second Life. His passion is DJing and Digital Art. Tank brings with him a host of knowledge that makes him a strong leader in the Second Life community. !!!!!!!MAJESTICALLITERATION!!!!!!! Now called the Artist Formerly Known as Jewel Reyes, MajesticAlliteration has been in SL for a collective 7 years. She was brought to SL by an RL friend. Her business beliefs include: do what you say you are going to do and the amount of the effort you put into business endeavors reflects back on who you are as a person. She has several business ventures in SL and thoroughly enjoys the creative arts community in SL.
