We have just returned from Sydney from competing in the inaugural "Origins of Fiji" tournament. This tournament was used to select an Australian Fijian Rugby League team to play a resident Fiji team to determine the remaining places in the Fiji Bati World Cup squad. Qld Fijian played Country Fijian in the first game and although we were against a team with Bati experience we went down in the dieing minutes 20 - 14. In our following game we clashed with NZ Fijians and with boths side battered from playing 2 days earlier Qld Fijians triumphed 50 - 46 in an entertaining game. We then had two players selected to represent the Australian Fiji team, Maurice Kennedy and Sarafu Fatiaki with two players ruled ineligible due to injury and non registration. Well done boys.
