We have some antique furniture that we had kept when we sold our 3-bedroom home in 2008 and then moved into a 2-bedroom apartment. We have a 3/4 100+ year old antique bed that is plenty big the two of us since Woody and I are not big people. Wed get lost if we had to sleep in a queen-size bed. Two nights ago as we crawled into bed, we heard a thump. I said, Woody, what was that? He replied, One of the slats under the box spring had fallen! So the next morning, we stripped the bed down to remove the mattress and box spring so as to fix the problem. After replacing the slat, we picked up the box spring and carefully set it down and then remade the bed. We figured that the problem was resolved. So then again last night, we heard another thump and this time, two slats had fallen. I thought, here we go again, remove the bedding, mattress and box spring. This time Woody removed the slats, took them out in the garage and drilled small holes in each end and now all the slats are screwed into the side rails and we shouldnt have any more problems.
