We received a call from Jake Watson on Monday. He was injured in - TopicsExpress

We received a call from Jake Watson on Monday. He was injured in Combatives and did not pass his final PT test. Typically the guys in this situation would stay back and train with another troop for a week or two and then re-take the test. But, because he is only 17 years old, he is not allowed to do this. He will not graduate from basic at this time and will be coming home because he has to legally be back in school. There is a group of 17 year olds in the same situation that will be returning home also. He is hoping to fly home soon. We will pick him up from Springfield when he does return. He is disappointed to come this far and then have this issue, but he was in pretty good spirits considering. He will return and start his Senior year and he is looking forward to seeing his friends. I can tell by his voice he has changed a lot. He trained with the Alpha troops, which is an elite group, so I know he learned a lot! I received another call on Tuesday night and he had spoke to the Liaison officer and was told he will go back to basic next Summer to finish what he missed this last week and he will have to pass the PT test at that time. He will not be at basic the whole summer. He will then move on to Advanced Individual Training. I told him we are so proud of him and it is unfortunate this happened, but he has done more at this age than most. He will keep drilling every month in Springfield and keep "soldiering" on!! Thanks to everyone who has followed my posts. We have really enjoyed all the support. Until the next, everyone have a wonderful day!!
