We serve the all-powerful God. We serve the all-knowing God. We - TopicsExpress

We serve the all-powerful God. We serve the all-knowing God. We serve the God who decrees all things for His glory. Nothing happens outside of His control. God ordained the job you work at. Your spouse was crafted in the depths of God’s secret counsel just for you to bring glory to Him and joy to you. The place where you live was selected by God for you and your family. The all-powerful, all-knowing, all-decreeing God ordained even the many, many blinks you have batted in the courseof reading this paragraph. If the nature of God is undeniable because you believe the Bible declares what that nature is, which includes what has been listed, then why do you pray? If you live in the same world I do, then you will quickly realize life is not a soft cushion where you sit comfortably at ease and rest. We have real troubles, real enemies, real failures, real fears, real sadness, real depression, real death, real spiritual warfare, and real broken dreams. We need guidance. We need help. We need a God who hears and delivers us. And the God who has revealed Himself in the person of Christ is the God who hears and delivers His children. When the righteous cry for help, the LORD hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.(Ps. 34:17 ESV) Forgiven sinners are called saints. They are called saints because they are righteous. They are righteous because Jesus became their righteousness for them and clothed them in a robe of perfection before the face of God (2 Cor. 5:21). Therefore when those who believe in thename of the Son of God, the Father is always present to hear their cry. If we desperately need anything in this life, it is that God might hear us. And He does. Think about if God did not listen to His people. We would be completely helpless! We are not able to do anything without the assistance of God.Even when we don’t seek His help He is still the all-powerfulOne who upholds life in order to accomplish His purpose. Butif He did not hear and answer us in this life then we would be a helpless people with no hope. Our God abounds in grace. He crucified His Son so that we would have access to His throne room in order to freely bring our petitions before Him. We pray because everything and everyone is dependent upon God, and Goduses prayer as a means to hear from our hearts those things we desperately need. God not only hears the cry of the righteous, but also delivers them out of all their troubles. Every day the worldis on the prowl to rob what wehave in Christ. The world tries to influence us so that we will forsake our love-relationship with Jesus for a love-relationship with it.The power of the world is fueled by Satan, which makes it extremely difficult to stand firm, because Satan has been a liar from the beginning of time and is good at what he does. The world casts its bait, whichis hurled by Satan himself, and we bite because our sin knows the bait is tasty. What does all this add up to? Troubles. Numerous, pursuingtroubles. And prayer is a powerful tool that is always available so that we can drivethe enemy, world, and sin back to its proper place. We pray because God promises that He will hear our cry and deliver us. A professor once said we pray because we participate in the providence of God. What could be a greater privilege than to actively be involved in the will of God? Ofall the blessings we have in this world, the fact that God hears and delivers His peoplethrough prayer is an abundant grace that richly showers on the needy and weary believer. Participate in the will of God by actively seeking Him through prayer. He will hear you. He will deliver you
