We should probably issue a statement in response to this: Bus Service may end at 9:00 p.m. Saturday. The City of Saskatoon, and the union representing Saskatoon Transit, have yet to reach an agreement on a new contract. The union rejected the Citys final offer. Transit workers may be off the job starting on Saturday. We understand that a service disruption could affect your daily commute and make it more difficult to get around the city. Like you, we hope than an agreement can be reached before bus services are cancelled. Access Transit Services will continue to operate as normal. As an essential service, Access Transit will not be affected by transit workers off the job. Customers will be able to book and ride Avvess Transit as normal. All other Saskatoon Transit customers are encouraged to explore other options for Saturday night as bus services could end at 9:00 p.m. Keeping our Promises to taxpayers and employees The decision to serve a lockout notice was driven by mounting financial implications for Saskatoon taxpayers, and concerns over transit service disruptions heading into the winter season. saskatoon.ca/DEPARTMENTS/Utility%20Services/Saskatoon%20Transit/Pages/LatestTransitNews.aspx
