We took in a friends dog last year when it started getting real cold bc he had to move in with his parents and his dog ( an American bulldog) was living in his truck and it was way oy cold for him. The friend said he would pay for his food and it would only be a temporary situation. We had a dog at the time and they didnt get along it took several months to get to the point were they could be out together. I will admit it was my very territorial lab that started the fights. After months of working with them both they were finally friends! We changed his food to a mid quality feed ( from oL Roy) to help with his horrible gas. He had previously lived on a chain so we had to train him and teach him manners. Tank has come such a long ways. It has been almost a year and as of three weeks ago we now have a newborn. Since we came home from the hospital tank has been peeing and pooping in the house, shredding things, and yesterday got on the counter to get the butter dish. I have been making sure to give him extra attention as I know it can be hard for dogs to adjust to a new baby in the house. My husband and I are absolutely done we cant take it any more yesterday he strung out the bathroom trash shredded it the peed all over it and my husbands army gear, today he chewed up the babys binky that was on our night stand! We have both contacted my friend and asked that he find other Arrangments. I called him today and told him he needed to figure some thing out like now. ... Here is the thing my husband just got a text from said friend saying he guesses he will just take him to a no kill shelter. .... We have been feeding( friend has paid $20 three times I think ), housing, training, and loving this dog for about a year. I feel horrible I love tank I really do but I dont know what to do. Worse yet when we discipline him after he messes up he bars his teeth and growls!!! I dont want to see him go to a shelter and rot away. He doesnt do well when he is alone/ ignored. That being said my husband is done. Since tank has been with us my lab disappeared and my new puppy died. I am scared/ uncomfortable being without a dog and I know when tank leaves hubby doesnt want another dog for a while. I guess I am just kind of lost with this situation bc he isnt our dog and yet I do love him and yet we cant have these behaviors in the house with a baby. Does any body have any advise? I love this dog and I dont know how to do what is right for my family and tank. Sorry to vent the situation just has me very emotional :(
