We train for fire drills but not for crime…why? Our neighbor, an 89 year old woman, managed to scare away a burglar yesterday afternoon as he was coming through her window. (She’s like a superhero). Afterward the shock of sholda-coulda-woulda hit us all hard. Crime happens so fast leaving only seconds to react. She was very lucky. Please take a minute to think about what you would do if you hear glass breaking. Would you run? Where? If you fight are you prepared? Whatever you choose in the moment wouldnt practicing options help? There are ways to tell your kids without scaring the crap out of them which neighbors are safe to run to in an emergency and how to get out of the house. It’s over before you can think and way over before the police can get to you. Please protect yourself and give it a thought. End of soapbox public service announcement.
