We will be open until 6pm today. If you watch our facebook page then you know this cutie pie. Flower is a 5-7 year female Lab mix who came to us in a very bad situation. On a Saturday afternoon, our Director received a phone call at home from one of our wonderful Deputies. She found a dog on the side of the road in the country with one of her front paws stuck in a snap trap. Our Director responded and went to the location to meet the deputy and found this wonderful girl; scared, skinny and stuck in a trap. The Deputy said she had spoke to someone at the only house on the lease road where Flower was found and the home owner said the dog had been staying there but he had not seen her in about 2 weeks. We are hoping that Flower had not been stuck in that trap for that long but the condition she was found in leads us to believe that she was. Over the course of the next 48 hours the swelling in her foot had gone down but it also revealed a hole (through and through) where the trap had destroyed the skin, tissue and even bone in her foot. We knew we had to take quick action to save this girl; she was far too sweet and affectionate and had survived thus far. Flowers front left leg had to be amputated from the shoulder down. This girl is amazing; she is great with other dogs, stellar with feline friends and great with children. Flower may never learn to shake on command but she is far from handicapped because of this situation. Flower is house trained, leash trained and loves being around human companions. She loves bones, doggie beds and a warm lap to snuggle up to. She has already learned how to navigate minus her limb and still remains fearless.
