Weather Forecast for Kent – Wednesday 20th August ’14. We continue to be under a light north westerly airflow thanks to quite a large low pressure system hanging over Scandinavia, but pressure is expected to slowly build up from the west. TODAY . . . Putting it simply, it’ll be a jolly decent day involving plenty of sunny spells and scattered cloud across Kent, although there may tend to be a bit more In the way of cloud amounts in the afternoon as cumulus feed on solar heating but they are unlikely to get big enough to produce any rain. However, since our wind will still be coming in from the north west, temperatures are going to struggle to get up to 18 C (64 F) but it’ll still get to feel pleasantly warm on the face in any sunshine we do get and all the time that north west wind is staying light. All in all, a useful type of day, which includes getting the line washing sorted, giving the garden a once over, going on a bike ride without getting heatstroke. The only thing you may struggle with is being able to wear beach clothing should you want to head to the beach. If it is mid-January right now, we’d be dealing with brilliant sparkly clean skies and the odd wintry showers during the day but freezing cold with a widespread and hard frost by night. TONIGHT . . . Mainly clear and settled. A few mist patches may form in the usual prone low laying areas as our wind remain as a light north west. Naturally, that will make for another chilly night with temperatures falling down to as low as 8 C (46 F). Comfortable to sleep in . . . unless you are a night worker, in which case you may want to put a jumper on. OUTLOOK . . . Tomorrow should be another day of decent sunny breaks and only varied cloud cover and it’ll get to feel pleasantly warm on the face again. However, Friday looks a bit iffy with more in the way of cloud cover and a risk of showers breaking out. But then it is expected to become dry and bright again on Saturday and, if we are lucky, even on Sunday, as well as becoming that little bit warmer as winds falls light. Then, in true British Bank Holiday style, it is going to be cloudy, wet and breezy as we go onto Monday. Next week is likely to be quite changeable and quite breezy at times with alternating periods of sunny spells & showers and perhaps longer spells of rain thanks to weather systems coming in from the Atlantic, but it is a long way off in forecasting terms anyway so this must be treated as a rough guide only.
