Weather Report from Eskeys Ridge... Today has been an odd day... I slept with the window wide open last night and woke up really early to the sound of birdsong... Robins! The little wood stove had not had a fire all day yesterday or last night. As it was just starting to get daylight I went out on the porch just because it was so beautiful! The fog had settled in the valley below the Ridge and was a lovely shade of pink. It was just like spring time... Made my heart sad to know that was not the truth, you know? But, that lovely red-haired girl stopped by for a quick cup of hot chocolate (she didnt seem to care much for the coffee). She said she was sticking around for one more day before going to her wintering place. She talked and laughed while I put on my boots to hit the woodpile because I just had a feeling the warm weather was a fleeting thing. Miss Spring sat on a big block of good white oak while I used my hand cranked splitter. And then it broke!! Oh woe, my splitter is no more. I found out they were on sale at Northern Tools so Ill take care of that tomorrow. So, without the splitter, I went for the chain saw and after a while of all THAT noise, Miss Spring disappeared. The warm sunshine felt good as I worked. But then I just got really tired and came inside. It was a beautiful day on the Ridge - - made me very homesick for springtime. But, I do believe it is all good. We just have the winter in between us and that lovely red-haired gal. That Old Man is just now strolling out the driveway. Better scoot before he starts that hollering for supper!! Love and hugs out from an old soul here on Eskeys Ridge.... And, just found out today, I got me some new neighbors moving in across the way. Arvel and Joyce have moved into their little house down next to the road and theyve sold their big house. Ill surely miss having them up here on their ridge... They are some of the finest folks I know.... The one guarantee we have in life is that things will change. Happy Monday, my dearest dears... xoxoxo SK
