Weather Situation A monsoon trough extends through the Gulf of Carpentaria into Cape York Peninsula and across the northern Coral Sea to a developing tropical low in the Coral Sea. The tropical low is expected to deepen over the next couple of days and move westwards towards the Queensland coast. Forecasts are highly dependent on the development and movement of this system. A high over the Tasman Sea extends a firm ridge along the east Queensland coast to the south of the monsoon trough. **North Tropical Coast and Tablelands -Cloudy. Showers, tending to rain south of about Cairns. Isolated thunderstorms. Moderate to heavy falls likely. Winds south to southwesterly 15 to 25 km/h increasing to 25 to 35 km/h in the morning. Damaging wind gusts exceeding 90 km/h possible depending on movement and development of Tropical Low. Overnight temperatures falling to between 18 and 23 with daytime temperatures reaching 22 to 31. **Herbert and Lower Burdekin - Cloudy. Rain developing early in the morning. Isolated thunderstorms. Moderate to heavy falls likely. Winds southeasterly 20 to 30 km/h turning southerly 30 to 45 km/h in the morning then tending south to southeasterly 25 to 40 km/h in the evening.
