Weather Underground Forecast for Thursday, July 04, 2013. More warm weather is expected for much of the Southwest Thursday as a strong high pressure system remains in charge of the weather pattern. Temperatures well above 100 degrees are expected through the Desert Southwest, while many areas from the deserts of Southern California through New Mexico will top 110 degrees. Relief from the heat is on the horizon for the West as the high pressure ridge will slowly weaken into the weekend, bringing cooler air into the area. In addition to the warm temperatures, some subtropical moisture could produce some monsoon thunderstorms from the Sierra Nevadas of California through New Mexico. In the East, a wet storm will track through the eastern third of the country. This storm will have enough moisture associated with it to produce areas of heavy rain and strong thunderstorms from the eastern Gulf Coast through the Ohio Valley. Some rain may also make its way into the Northeast. The Northeast will rise into the 70s, 80s, and some 90s, while the Southeast will see similar temperatures. The Plains will rise into the 90s and 100s, while the Southwest will see temperatures in the 90s, 100s, and 110s. The Northwest will rise into the 80s and 90s.
