Wedding rings....I was so proud of the rings my husband chose for me. They are beautiful and of his choice. Then one night God came to me and said: "These rings symbolize more than your relationship to each other. Look at the engagement band. It is two rows of stones with a center stone set above them. Here is the meaning: The side rows are you and Eric. They are separate and distinct. Both are striving to reach Christ who is the center stone. He is above all in your relationship. At the point of marriage, this ring is exchanged for a single band of stones. This band represents the union of two people, joined together as one. A band of stones so inter-meshed that you can not tell which are you and which is Eric. So is marriage, the uniting of one man and one woman as one person. Together with the engagement band they represent your life. The story of two people becoming one with Christ over all of it, just as the center stone is still above both bands and rules in your household. Keep this in mind as you go about your day. This is your life. It is to remind you whenever you look at your hand what God has done in your life." This conversation has become so very important to me. Even as I sit here and type what I was told, I see those rings on my hand and realize that I serve a God who loves me so much as to remind me of His care and love daily, through the center stone and through the love of my husband. How great is my God. And He can be yours too, today, if you are willing to submit to Him and love Him.
