Wednesday (1/29) wine tasting: Back-tracking a little bit in previous wine tastings notes here (so I dont have to drink EVERY night...) Comparing two unoaked Chardonnays. One from the cool climate of Chablis Burgandy, France (Leonce Bocquet 2012) and the other from the warner climate of South Australia (Yalumba Y Series 2012). The comparison was to show the effect a warmer climate has on a grape. Leonce Bocquet Chablis $15: Super-light chardonnay - it almost tastes like a Sauvignon Blanc. You can taste the limestone chalk of the soil it was grom from. Loved this wine and would be great paired with Chicken Pot Pie, Lobster Bisque, Brie Cheese and Sushi! Yalumbra $10 - $15: A richer more topical fruit version of the Chablis. A nice surprise to realize that a warmer climate makes a more tropical fruit type wine. This would be great with Chicken Ceasar Salad.
