Wednesday 5th March Koala Room Update: Here we are at Wednesday already and the Koala children ventured out in to the yard to start the morning off. While in the yard some of the children experienced playing with shaving foam. They hesitantly touched the foam to start with and once they familiar with it then large handfuls were picked and squeezed. Books are popular with the koala children at the moment as some of our friends take time to sit briefly and flick through each page before moving on. Possum Room Update: Shaving foam was a real hit with the possum children this morning. A few children were a bit unsure about it until educators guided them over for a touch, as other children were straight in as soon as it was poured out onto the table. Eli, Chase and Lukas especially enjoyed this sensory activity rubbing it up their arms, legs and even Chase put it over his face. Bilby Room Update: Michael, Madeline, Brodie, Chloe all had a great time with water play outside this morning, using sponges to soak up the water and using their fine motor skills to squeeze the water out,” Look Jackie” Madeline said, “I can get it out,” as she squeezes the sponge. Madeline and Chloe made pretend cups of tea for Jackie, “Here’s a cup of tea, Jackie just pretend, Madeline said. They also washed babies. Hudson and Michael washed the dinosaurs and made them stomp on the sponges. The children also did some great cleaning today, filling their sponges with water and washing down the wall, windows and floor. Platypus Room Update: What a great day in the Platypus room today , in the outdoor area Tony set up some painting activities for the children by using the easel, Zara was very busy creating a “rainbow” while Summer over the other side was painting beautiful stripes and lines. Also for craft today we had paper doyleys for the children to glue their chosen decorations on such as feathers, paddle pop sticks, beads and glitter. Kangaroo Room Update: This morning Deanna brought in some tadpoles for the children to look at. Lachlan, Aaron, Jack, Olivia, Henry and Maya spent time this morning investigating the tadpoles in the bowl. The children observed that some of the tadpoles were starting to grow legs. This then started a discussion on what the tadpoles will turn into. When we came inside Maggie then read a story to the children about tadpole, we then explored the internet for different types of frogs that there are, the children commented that there are lots of types of frogs and they look really different. Emu Room Update: This morning many of our friends enjoyed playing tee –ball with Yolanda down by the bike track. Arliah, Alexander, Ace, Charlie, Rehaan, Sally, Myah and Gracie P all worked together to share the resources and take turns. The small balls we were using kept flying over and through the fence and Alexander made the comment that if we made the gaps between the fence railings smaller than the ball would not fit through it. Moments later Alexander discovered that if he used a bigger ball then the problem of the ball flying through the fence would be resolved.
