Wednesday August 14 2013. Luke 6:14, “But woe to you who are rich, for you have received your consolation.” Lord, speak to me this morning. As I meditate on this verse this morning, I feel that you are not talking about those who have lots of money. Yesterday I determined that you were not necessarily saying the poor were those who did not have lots of money. So in this passage you must not be necessarily talking about those who have lots of money, but those whose life consist of the pursuit of money. If my whole life is geared to satisfying my desires and making my life comfortable then the pursuit of that lifestyle is my “consolation”. When I think of that phrase I think of consolation prize, like on the Price is Right or something. There was a better prize but I didn’t get it. A consolation prize is something you settle for. Lord Jesus, readjust my focus and my goals to conform to what you want and what’s in your kingdom rather than settling for something less. Give me the desire, and the will, to pursue the things of you and your kingdom. Amen.
