Wednesday, December 3, 2014 Location: 475 DeKalb Ave, DeKalb County Community Foundations Freight Room Time: 7:00 p.m. Cost: $5 suggested donation Civil War Historian Dennis Maher returns to host a Sycamore History Museum talk about Lincoln’s early life. Abraham Lincoln is etched into the American psyche as a monument of American freedom. In the shadows of Mt. Rushmore and the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, the American people have grown to admire and love this man. In reality, he was no different than most people. He had friends, business associates and of course family. How did Lincoln relate to these very important people in his life? Maher these relationship and reflect on how Lincoln’s character development compared to others during this time period. When Maher is not teaching, he is working in the community. He belongs to the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War. E.F. Dutton Camp #49, Sycamore-Illinois, and is Historian and Secretary in addition to working on preserving grave sites and Civil War memorials. He was a former member of the Educational Advisory Panel-Abraham Lincoln Library and Museum, Springfield, Il.
