Wednesday, November 20, 2013- Front Page - THE DAILY HERALD. BLOK: Clearly islands have right to self-determination. From the article we can infer that the opinion stated by Blok is also the opinion of the Dutch government in The Hague. The BES islands have much to learn from the experience of Aruba, Curacao and Sint Maarten and I think such observations and conclusions are equally important as the opinion and time-frame offered by Blok. The Dutch want to delay any response and decision on the topic of self-determination while oppresing our people by controlling key-sectors in our justice systems and defense. Namely the VKS, the Coast Guards and Marines. Some directly and others indirectly. The United Nations should notice and be aware that pro-Dutch politicians and media have been allowed to continue their pretending and hypocrasy, as the Dutch government tries to find ways of shifting our attention from future goals of sovereignty to our dinner table. This has become absurd because our foreign-affairs restricts and contains us from establishing commercial contacts and trade with other countries. Our fishing rights which have been the traditional livelihood have been regulated and restrictions have been impossed. Under those circumstances we appreciate the sole comfort of family-ties on the other islands to share the grief and complaints, and swear never to fall into the Dutch traps once again. A lesson which has endangered and chained our future and our children once more. If indeed we are to exercise our rights to self-dtermination, the Dutch justice system and bureaucracy should halt the bias and promote free and fair elections by disseminating information and encouraging participation by the populace.
