Wednesday, October 15 – Phil Taggart UC Santa Barbara, College of Creative Studies Literature Symposium at the Old Little Theater at 4 pm Phil Taggart’s new book of poems is Rick Sings (Brandenburg Press) Rick Sings’ main muse is a 57 year-old schizophrenic and sometimes homeless man; my brother Rick. He has lived in various places within a few miles of me since he arrived on my doorstep over 30 years ago. He served for nine years as the Poetry Editor of Art Life, and is currently editor and publisher of Askew with Marsha de la O and Friday Lubina. He received a Champion of Mental Health Award from the Turning Point Foundation for his work promoting the understanding of mental disorders, an Art Stars Award from the Ventura County Arts Council, and the Mayor’s Art Award.
