Week 2, Day 2: MIRACLES ARE HAPPENING EVERYDAY! Clay is doing great! We had his MRI this morning and he did wonderful! Anesthesia doesnt keep him down long at all!! Plus, he likes to flirt with his nurses. 😉 Later today we got the results of the scan and it showed that the tumor that has engulfed his adrenal gland over his right kidney is the size of a tangerine. His kidney is still functioning very well but it is squashed beneath the growing tumor. The good news is that there was no other tumors found in his abdomen but he still has small tiny spots throughout his body on his bones and tumor cells in his marrow, but those are a very small amount and will be killed out by his chemo. Hopefully after a few treatments they will take out the tumor as it should be smaller by that time. The one one his head will just be destroyed by his chemo and should shrink down to nothing. Eventually his brow bone will shape back to its normal dimensions as he grows and matures. Aside from all the happenings of the day, with it being his last chemo treatment in this first cycle, we have noticed that he is going to be so resilient through this. He is not even showing signs that he is even having negative effects from the treatment besides the diaper rash which is almost completely gone! I can attribute these miracles to the unending prayers and to God, who is working miracles in Clays life daily!! Without Him we would be nothing! Going home tomorrow seems bittersweet because of the last couple of weeks. This hospital is amazing!! I could have never mentally prepared myself for anything like this. I still dont want to accept it but I know I have to. God granted me peace and with hope and faith in Him, my little family will be one again. I cant wait to see what our future holds--watching our babies grow and bloom. God has seen fit to give us the chance at seeing tomorrow and I will never take that for granted ever again!
