Week 3 Outdoor Photography - TREES My photo this week is of the trunk of an Australian Bunya Pine. These are remnant Jurassic era pine trees which grow in northeastern Australia in rainforests. They can grow to 45 metres. Their cones are 35 centimetres wide and are designed to drop (when they are ripe) and smash apart hitting the branches on the way to the ground. My mothers adoptive parents ran a coach service at Loftus, within what is now the Royal National park. This tree was at the front of the house and coach shed (the pine is still there even though the house and shed are long demolished) A very unusual tree.
