Weinberg Elementary PTO Meeting Meeting Minutes September 12, 2013 Present: Monica Everhart, Laura Thornburg, Shannon Marr, Don Shelley, Robin Hornstrom, Kristen Lundeen, Regina Evans, Angela Teachout, Cheryl Groat, Trisha Lucas, Carol McMahon, Lindsay McAlester, Sonya Peterfreund, Nicole Smith, Andrea Vickery, Erika Christofolo Next meeting: Thursday, November 14, 2013, Media Room --Call To Order: 3:15pm --Ajourned: 5:00pm --Welcome and Introductions: --Yes Proposition: Jim Bishop presented material about Override Proposition, and discussed benefits. Luke Abrahamson, site rep, requested school volunteers. --Principals Report: 1st Quarter is almost completed, and off to great year. New teacher assessments are great, and school goal is to get Math scores up. Likes the schools support of the PTO. --Treasurer’s Report: Cheryl provided reports. Motion and passed to move $179.54 from Corkins Grant into 5th Grade Teams account. --Old Business: Bingo Night: Successful night with more room for families with set up and additional tables, ordered 40 additional pizzas and all sold. 4th grade team successful in conssessions. Winter Wonderland: Time of event will be 4:30pm to 8pm. Looking to have 10-12 tons of snow this year. No train this year due to business not able to rent out, other ideas? Asked for help in locating sponsors to the event, already a $250 sponsor located. Room moms will contact teachers with gift basket themes, and start with collections, providing Regina with the class themes. Vendors have been signing up, additional ideas: Farmers Market, DJ? Box Tops: Erika reported we are at 20% of yearly goal after first collection. Otter pops have been distributed. PTO Purchase of Spaulding Cards for CTA: PTO purchased many sets of cards and most have been sold during CTA night. Agreed to purchase more and sell next year at Meet The Teacher Night. --New Business: McTeacher Night at McDonad’s: Tues, Oct 22nd from 5-7pm, 20% of all in house purchases will be given to Weinberg. The location at Chandler Heights/Higley has agreed to a school fundraiser that evening, allowing Weinberg staff to “serve” behind the counter. We will have access to decorate, promote a week in advance. Basha High School DECCA fundraiser “Adopt A Bear”: Weinberg has been chosen to receive all monies DECCA raises as part of their service project. They are hoping to raise $1,000 during their December 6th, Winter Festival, which will include Weinberg’s Kindergarteners as well. --Open Forum: --Voted not to exceed $950 to purchase the Targus --Voted for 9 packages, wrist wraps not to exceed $175 for Red Ribbon Week. --Voted to charge slide wrist bands1 for $3 or 2 for $5 at Winter Wonderland --Post Agenda and Meeting Minutes on the PTO Facebook page, to allow those not able to attend to keep up on what’s going on, and provide feedback.
