Welcome everyone to the home of our October Kilimanjaro climb! - TopicsExpress

Welcome everyone to the home of our October Kilimanjaro climb! On the 7th of October 2013 a contingent of Kiwis and Germans from across the globe set out on an epic adventure. We aim to conquer the highest mountain in Africa (often referred to as the roof of Africa), Mt Kilimanjaro (5,895m). It is known as the highest freestanding mountain in the world and takes several days to summit. To put in perspective, a sky-dive is normally from around 4000 metres, the oxygen at the top of Kilimanjaro is less than half of that at sea level and 1/1000 summit attempts lead to death. :P As far as all good adventures go, we couldn’t go all the way without giving something back to Africa. To do so we have decided to fundraise for Charity Water. Charity Water aims to bring clean fresh drinking water to those less fortunate and document their progress through photos and GPS coordinates so you can see where your donations are making a difference. Therefore we’d love to invite you to offer us some extra extrinsic motivation during the tough times on the mountain and sponsor our climb -my.charitywater.org/conquerkili And of course… if we can make it through 7 days of no showering, awkward pee bottle tent moments, headaches, blisters, infectious diseases and hopefully lots of laughs, fun and bonding… you can surely dig a little into your own pockets and help water Africa with us. Please check back as we will provide status updates on progress and perhaps reflection on what surely will be our toughest adventure yet! Kili crew!
