Weather Situation Tropical Cyclone Ita lies off the central coast of Queensland and is expected to transition to a vigorous low today as it tracks further southeast through the Coral Sea away from the east Queensland coast. A large high will move east over the Great Australian Bight and into the southern Tasman Sea during the forecast period, extending a firm ridge into southern Queensland waters. A series of upper level troughs will move east over central and southern Queensland during the forecast period. Forecast for the rest of Monday Patchy rain areas about southeastern districts, contracting to the east into the Coral Sea with Tropical Cyclone Ita during the day. Cloudy conditions through remaining southeast and central parts with showers expected, more frequent near the coast. Fine and mostly sunny in the far west. Scattered showers about parts of the southern interior. Mostly fine elsewhere over the interior and also through the southern tropics with only isolated showers. Scattered showers and isolated storms through the northern tropics. Winds decreasing about the central coast though increasing through southern Queensland waters.
