Welcome to Physics class!! Mr. Dohertys Physics class is introduced to Kinematics or the Physics of Motion. He explains that this is just one way to do Physics independent of what is causing the motion. Using an AirTrak device that operates much like an air hockey table to eliminate friction, students contemplate, discuss and differentiate between the motion-related concepts of time, distance, displacement, speed, velocity and acceleration. In this unit students are learning how to use Galileos classic Equations of Motion. Soon they will discover Dynamics - how to do Physics by analyzing the Forces acting on objects, and ultimately how to do Physics by just considering the Kinetic and Potential Energy states of objects. Mr. Doherty believes in the Socrative method, so he likes to ask lots of questions to evoke dialogue and discovery. Thank you Mr. Doherty!!
